Asian Hornet

The Asian Hornet is a non-native species from Asia, it arrived in France during 2004 and has been spreading rapidly.

They are likely to get established soon in mainland UK. The number of nests destroyed in UK during 2018 was an increase on the the previous year.

It is a highly effective predator of insects including wasps, other pollinators and honey bees and should not be confused the  European Hornet.
